We are reaching the end of the prospect draft and there were some questions on Discord about what happens after the prospect draft. The mods have discussed and reaffirmed, while we have increased the number of prospects this off-season, there will be no changes from the established process and the plans as laid out on May 3rd in the forum. In summary:
After the Prospect Draft
- Rosters are locked between drafts. No waiver wire pick-ups or promotions/demotions.
Free Agent Draft
- The 10-round free agent draft is used to fill your NHL roster and bench slots.
- Teams are done with the draft when they run out of FA picks or have filled their NHL roster.
- Prospect-eligible players can be drafted to your reserve/bench but not starting positions (i.e. maximum of 3 prospects on your NHL squad)
- We will be using the Fantrax draft tool for the FA draft.
Post Free Agent draft
- Rosters are open and eligible prospects can be moved up or down while ensuring they are only placed on your NHL bench if moved up.
- All remaining free agents are set on waivers.
- The waiver wire process is initially based on the reverse standings from last season.
- Once a GM makes a waiver claim, they move to the end of the waiver queue.
- Fantrax has a very robust waiver claim process that allows you to submit and rank multiple claims.
