Looking forward to watching the Jets vs the Flames during my first trip to the Rockies.
The Calgary Saddledome will be the 5th arena I see an NHL game in (after Québec, Montréal, Ottawa and Buffalo).
How does that compare to others?

Don’t expect too much from the Dome. It’s old and needs to be replaced. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the game, but the arena isn’t going to wow you. The Dome really went downhill after it was flooded in 2013(?). Most of the lower bowl was underwater, and of course all the infrastructure levels below that. That aged it by about 20 years all at once.
Best thing about the Dome…Pocket Dawgs. They’re great junk cuisine. Second best thing about the Dome…it’s not that concrete urinal in Edmonton.
Edit … the Rockies on the other hand are going to blow your mind. Doing any skiing?

I have gone to a game in Ottawa, and I’ve been to Vancouver, for Olympic hockey, but I’m counting that. Years ago this guy ended up in the seats beside us who was a traveling consultant from the NE states. He’d been to over 20 NHL arenas, and had some real feathers in his cap like Boston Gardens, The Forum, and I believe the old Chicago arena. We were very jealous.
As for the Saddledome, it’s old, cramped and needed to go a few years ago. I go to 8ish games a season and haven’t noticed much change pre and post flood. It’s just almost 11 years older. Pro tip is to go to the bathroom in either end behind the goals on the main concourse. They are much bigger, but still too small. Go as far into them as you can as too many people stand at the entrance and clog things up. Pocket dogs are good, if you want “ice cream” the malts are always a big seller and have really long lines an intermission. Your pre-game beers wherever you have dinner is better/cheaper of course. We go to Saint James Corner. It’s probably a 15 min walk from the dome. At the dome, the closest to craft beer you can get is Banded Peak Brewing. Our seats are on the east concourse and the Banded Peak is near the main Fanattic. There is a new grab and go concession area which we haven’t used but it never seems that busy. Depending on where you are staying I may have other restaurant tips.
Enjoy the mountains!

I really enjoyed Calgary, the game and of course the Rockies. The Saddledome has charm despite its age.
