Happy New Year to you as well. Wife and I are respecting COVID restrictions so no hangovers here. I didn’t even stay up until midnight.

We let our 8 year old stay up until midnight for the first time. We drank sparkling juice and watched the replay of the Canada Finland game.

Allergic to alcohol so no hangover. But I did have the pleasure of playing Cards Against Humanity with my wife, her 22 year old daughter, the daughter’s boyfriend and a couple of their friends. Talk about some awkward conversations!! But lots of fun.

Nice! We had a big family dinner, and Yaeh I watched the replay of the Canadian jr. game too. Played on my phone the wee hours of the morning texting and talking to people I don’t normally do that with.

You didn’t do anything wrong cyclone. It used to be that we kept our gatherings to no more than ten people. I think our circle, or bubble was to be ten. If you broke regulation for what you did, then so did I. I had a couple of family members over New Year’s Eve.

Alberta also may have different regulations than Ontario. Our rules are
All indoor and outdoor social gatherings – public and private – are prohibited Close contacts are limited to household members only
People who live alone can have up to 2 close contacts: must be the same two contacts throughout the duration of the restriction if the close contacts do not live alone, visits cannot be held at their home
single parents who only live with their children under 18 are permitted to have up to 2 close contacts
This does not apply to: co-parenting arrangements service visits from caregivers, health or childcare providers home maintenance and repairs mutual support group meetings
I’m not really fussed with what you did, I was more bugging you as may have taken a minor liberty. Loads of people though are clearly bending the rules or ignoring them completely which is just extending things.

You forgot to add that if you’re a politician you can go on overseas vacations.

The only politicians who have done so without censure (to my knowledge) were UCP.

But since you mention it, there was also an Ontario Conservative. And I’m sure if all the facts and dirty deeds were known there’d be others as well. Federal Liberals are a particularly self-entitled bunch so I expect a couple of them have some dirty underwear, and likely a bunch of others from other parties and provinces as well.

That Ontario premier was the leader of the opposition. He was fairly young for his position, and he threw it all away! Career suicide, they say. And Yaeh, I had a big talk about what you can and can’t do in Ontario with my sister, who lives a short travel from Toronto. They get 1000 positives a day in Toronto. It is quite similar protocal to what the Americans are doing. I live way up non northern Ontario. It’s not that bad here. But distancing and masks are still the norm... for now.

Some Quebec MP also got caught. Michelle Rempel went to the US and back, I think more than once, and reportedly didn’t quarantine.
I get the desire to go away, we did it back in August (and followed all the protocols when we got back). A couple differences are, in August we had way less cases, we’re not on lockdown, and we’re not public officials.

I'm seriously so tired of covid, just completely exhausted. But for the new year I would say the thing I'm most excited for is going to a Flames game. That'll be when I know normal is here.

I’m looking forward to a couple weeks at our time share in St Lucia. That’s the marker for me. Fortunately we were there just before COVID hit...but I’m ready.

It’s really tough, and it’s been a long time. It’s affected work options a lot, I’ve been out for most of it and am hoping contracts start flowing a bit more freely. We’re all ready to be over it but I don’t think that’s going to change soon. We have many months of slow vaccine rollout still ahead of us before anything can start getting normal. I think we’ll start getting there as the year goes on and maybe in the fall we’ll be in stadiums.
We really want to get back to our favourite dive resort and support the locals who are our friends now, but getting there is tough, and getting back even harder. I’m not sure how we’d get a test to make it home. Also our only flight options to get there right now are through the US and that’s not of interest right now.
It’ll get better though and we will be back to a new normal. Just don’t throw out your masks, I think you’ll need those for a long time.
