Piss off Covid! I got my first vaccine jab yesterday. Anyone else? There’s a few of us eligible now that the ages have dropped. Hopefully everyone who can, gets appointments booked. Here in Calgary I went to the immunization centre downtown as pharmacies around me seemed to not have stock.. Very smooth process, I was in and out in about 40 mins. I had a dull headache in the evening and that seemed o migrate to a sinus headache this morning but nothing major. I think you actually want to have some sort of reaction so you know your body is building antibodies. Anyway, get jabbed as soon as you can. The sooner most of the population gets vaccinated the sooner we’ll be able to get back to more normal things.

Got mine this afternoon. Not as smooth for me. I had a 1:20 appointment, got the shot sometime around 2:30.
I am less worried about the shot and more worried about my stupid alcohol allergy. Everyone heavily sanitizing, enclosed space, I was wheezing by the time I got to the nurse. She was great though. Did everything she could to protect me from any more alcohol exposure than necessary.

I got mine last Friday. The Pfizer vaccine. I had a sore injection site for a couple days but that’s it. 16 weeks for the 2nd, which I assume is the provincial standard.

I’m about a month away from my first injection in northern Ontario.

It’s embarrassing how bad the federal and provincial gvts have botched the whole vaccine thing. Resorting to pilfering the charity stockpile for third world countries ranks as one of the most embarrassing moments I’ve experienced as a Canadian.

I still let them use the alcohol wipe. I would rather the allergic reaction than the possibility of infection. But the nurse wiped just the minimal amount.

Interesting. I’ve heard of people with drinking alcohol allergies, I have a mild one where I’ll get flush, but not to air-born alcohol.

I can not walk through the Bay because of the vast amounts of perfume samples in the cosmetics department (alcohol). Can’t wear cologne (alcohol). I suspect one past gf dated me so she would always have a DD.

Man, that sucks. I’m the only one in my house that hasn’t had the shot yet. But I’m quite anti-social by nature, and I’ve been out of work for a while. Looking to do some schooling, and get a new career. But are you happy they had a hockey season this year. They almost didn’t, cause the owners aren’t making much money this year, with empty stadiums. And with all this woke culture on tv, we really need our sports. Hang in there. Cabin fever, with COVID, is a bitch!

Just got back from the Telus Immunization clinic. That place is a well oiled machine. No waiting, no line. Very efficient.
So far no ill effects 1hr later.

Two days later who do you feel? Seems lots of people had some chills. Still a couple of days reaction is a billion times greater than possible long term health issues or even, you know, dying.
I got my first a week ago today. No issues and strangely enough, no blood clots... ;-)

Got some troubling news today. I hope you will indulge me.
I met a guy at work 5 years ago and worked closely with him and his partner for the last 4 years. Last week I was teaching a class and called his partner with a question. She answered my question, said she was not in the office for the next while and to please ask her counterpart if I need anything further. Never dawned on me.
Today I found out she is in isolation because her partner is in ICU with COVID. In the next 24 hours, they need to decide whether or not to put him into a medically-induced coma. He could die. She could be without her partner and her kids could be without the best father figure they have ever had.
Stomach punch. Makes it all too real.
Please, for your own sake and for those around you...get the vaccine, wear your mask, and be safe.
Thank you for indulging me.

Sorry to hear that story Hugh. Covid is real, yet I know seemingly intelligent people who are deniers. I don’t get it. Even if people are skeptical of what politicians and scientists tell them, there’s an abundance of empirical evidence to guide them. And for Pete’s sake, what’s the harm in wearing a freaking mask. It’s not enslavement...it’s responsible citizenship. I hope your accomplice pulls thru.

I’m just glad I’m a middle aged man. Cause there’s no way I wouldn’t have gone out drinking for 1.5years in my late teens/early 20s. I really feel for the youth of today, though. They are getting ripped off of their best years.

Now to add to the soap opera, my wife and I have had symptoms the last couple days. Step daughter was in close contact with someone that had it, she got tested and has it. We likely do too. Getting tested tomorrow.
The shot does not make you immune. It just lessens the chances and severity. Glad I got the shot.
