Stole this idea.
Expansion lists come out tomorrow, predict which 30 unprotected players from each team is selected.

Wow, they are going to have Price and Giordano!!! I’m already more excited for this team than I was Vegas!

Yeah, I think that’s a crazy ballzy move by Bergevin. Habs fans will be out for blood if Seattle claims him. They’re banking on a 10M signing bonus being a turn off. They may be right.

Also Tarasenko and Domi
If they resurrect their careers, some GMs are going to look silly

With the apparent cost incentive for Seattle to pick someone plus the lesson learned from Vegas I think most of those players will be available. There are a bunch of good ones. Full giant list here media.nhl.com/public/news/15205

If Seattle could take 6 players from Tampa, they would be pretty well set.
Some of those other lists are downright atrocious. Vancouver? Blech.

Maybe move it over here, Doc. It is more appropriate as a Watercooler thread and I like that link.

I think if there is price and tarasenko, and many other high cap hit options, Gio may not make sense for the Kraken to take.
When I played around with options it was tough to get a good choices and not go over on salary, and francis has said he wanted cap room. Plus, price may not be touched as there are a lot of decent goalies (not better, but decent goalies) that can be taken

Giordano - Bean Zadorov - DeMelo McCabe - Hagg Cholowski - Clague Rafferty
Driedger Kahkonen Vanecek
Observations and Predictions:
1. I think SEA passes on Price and go with a young trio of Driedger, Kahkonen and Vanecek. All three have great potential. 2. Defence is weak. I see Giordano as the best Defenceman available by far. 3. Forward depth is very good. I could see SEA passing up an "obvious" forward in order to draft a veteran D instead. 4. I did not do any cap calculations so not sure if cap compliant. 5. Took into account Francis's comments about cap space, which is why I think they will pass on guys like Voracek, Duchene, Johansen, Price, etc.

Seattle grabs assets from Minnesota, Montreal, and Tampa Bay to select players of their choosing, which are Rask, Drouin, and Johnson.
Lineup:
Drouin Johnson (A) Tarasenko (A) McCann Domi Eberle Ritchie Gaudette Jarnkrok Donato Rask Fischer Ashton-Reese Bastian Giordano (A) Barrie Bean DeMelo Cholowski Braun Sekera
-LD's past Giordano are interchangeable. Clague could also take a spot from Bean or Cholowski and one of the three into the minors. Driedger Vanecek
Cap hits (corresponding exactly as the players listed above):
$5,500,000 $5,000,000 $7,500,000 $2,940,000 $5,300,000 $5,500,000 $2,750,000 $1,250,000 $2,000,000 $2,000,000 $4,000,000 $1,000,000 $1,150,000 $1,750,000 $6,750,000 $6,000,000 $925,000 $3,000,000 $925,000 $1,800,000 $1,500,000 $3,750,000 $716,667
Salary Cap 20/21 $81,500,000 Kraken Cap $73,006,667 Cap Left Over $8,493,333
Minors:
Abramov Gauthier (1 x 755k) Bastian (2 x 825k) Rafferty (1 x 925k) Irwin (1 x 800k) Clague/Bean/Cholowski (1 x 925k) Johansson (1 x 750k)
Takeaways: There are big opportunities to land some assets. I think at least 2 of the following 4 teams are going to be paying assets to rid of something:
Minnesota, Montreal, Tampa Bay, and Nashville. My projected lineup went with 3/4 teams.
-Nashville could very well pawn Johansen off to Seattle. It would cost them their 2021 1st and more if they did though. Maybe Tolvanen. -I had a hard time deciding between Dunn and Tarasenko. I went with Tarasenko because of his marketable abilities to Seattle, and would be their best goal scorer regardless of health. -I just don't see the Kraken taking on Carey Price with his cap hit, his age, and also the signing bonus that he is owed. Makes more sense for them to roll a goalie tandem of Driedger and Vanacek splitting the duties. -Edmonton legit doesn't have anyone good to take, so Seattle will take Barrie and sign him to a 6m x 3 year deal.

Including everyone that's $75m. There were some big names that were tough to leave off but you have to to make the cap work. I also thought the surprise of Landeskog meant that JVR wasn't a slam dunk anymore. I had a hard time finding a good top C hence my gamble on Drouin. Perhaps with great wingers he could regain his center abilities. I debated between him and Domi and picked him as Columbus had better prospect options. Same as Palat vs Gourde but C is more important and there are a pile of good wingers. I'm also assuming no first rounders are traded.

9 for me. A lot of strange picks by Francis but apparently there are side deals to be announced tomorrow. I began to suspect side deals when they named so many young guys that have fallen short of their potential. I wonder if Seattle got a butt load of draft picks or some prime prospects. Pitlick? Tanev? Really?

I got 6 I think. Yaeh I’m kind of disappointed so far. Their defense looks good. They can be a physical team, but their budget of under $50mill, won’t win them many games. I hope to see a good draft with lots of trades on Friday!

I hope to see a good draft with lots of trades on Friday! With that budget, you have to expect 1-deals to take on remove big contracts from teams and/or 2-free agent signings. They already did Lrsson, Oleksiak and Dreidger I bet the fact that we did not see many big names was Francis saying they were not going to make it easy to dump contracts. I expect a bunch of deals in the wake of the draft. The only ones guaranteed to be on the roster were the six wearing the jerseys on stage

Unfortunately I debated a few picks
Tanev was one, Dunn another, and blackwell... but I was wrong on all three.
